Culinary Classes for All!

Summer Cooking Classes for Kids!



Chef Sara Woodford is excited to welcome aspiring young chefs into her kitchen for summer cooking fun!
 
Class size is kept small at no more than 10 kids, to insure ample one-on-one instruction. 
 
Creations not devoured during class will be sent home to share and show off! 
 
Classes run 6 hours and include a variety of activities such as: completion of several recipes, information about food science, geography, foreign language and other projects.
 
All classes include an apron that each student will decorate, wear in class and take home.  Classes will also include lunch, which may include food prepared by students or a sandwich, fruit and chips with water or lemonade to drink. 
 
Students should wear close-toed shoes and clothes that can get messy.  Any long hair should be pulled away from the face and secured.
 
Payment in full is due at registration. 
Because of the small group size, space fills up quickly.

Learn to make all types of tasty treats for your four-legged best friend!  Dog bones, canine cookies, and frosty pup pops are just few of the creations students will make.  Also, Dr. Hickey, a local veterinarian, will talk with the students about the nutritional needs of dogs and how to keep their dogs healthy and happy!

Take a tasty trip to the Mediterranean!  Learn to make classic Italian dishes such as pizza, ravioli with tomato sauce, tiramisu, and biscotti.  We will also learn basic Italian cooking vocabulary and discuss the regions and geography of Italy.  Students will dine on their wonderful creations.

Head South of the boarder for a culinary adventure!  Learn to make tortillas from scratch, chips & salsa, black bean burritos, tacos, Spanish rice, and caramel flan.  We will also learn basic Spanish cooking vocabulary and discuss the regions and geography of Mexico.  Students will dine on their wonderful creations.

So much wonderful chocolate so many ways!  We will explore the many applications of chocolate and create a variety of delicious treats that may include chocolate dipped strawberries, molded chocolates, brownies, chocolate pudding, mousse, and truffles.  The history, origin and production methods of chocolate will be explained.  Students will sample their creations and bring the remainder home to share.  A lunch including a sandwich, chips and fruit will be served.

The culinary world of Harry Potter comes to life in this magical class!  Taking inspiration from J.K. Rowling's incredible books, we will work like house elves to create Chocolate Frogs, Caldron Cakes, Chocolate Wands, Hagrid's Rock Cakes, Pumpkin Pasties, and Cockroach Clusters.  With a bit of trivia and magical lore this class will be as fun as a day in Hogsmead!  As a special treat witches and wizards can choose Butter Beer or Professor Flitwick's Cherry Fizz to enjoy with lunch!

Who doesn't want to wake up to delicious smells from the oven?  Turnovers, sausage biscuits, muffins, scones, granola and yogurt, and quiche are tempting ways to start the day and we will make all of them!  We will learn about the nutritional importance of breakfast and how what we eat effects how we feel.  Breakfast is delicious any time of day and students will dine on their fresh baked goodies!

Mother's Day Cookie Bouquet
Made just for Mom by her little sweetie!
 
Pastry Chef Sara Woodford will help each child decorate five large cookies with a "water color painting" technique and then add dimensional embellishments.  After the cookies dry, kids will "plant" them in a spring tin pail.  Kids will feel so proud of the beautiful and tasty gift they made for their moms!

Making a gingerbread house is a fun and delicious tradition!  Pastry Chef Sara Woodford will help students construct an edible house from the foundation up.  You will learn how to build the walls and roof, make evergreen trees, snowmen and other decorations all out of candy and icing.  Everything to construct and decorate the house is included in the cost of the class.  Students are welcome to bring extra candies, cookies, ect. to add to their houses.
 
This class brings out the creativity in everyone!  Children will have a great time building a house with an adult, although the project is too involved for children under six years old.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Up to three people may construct one gingerbread house.
